ITINERARY FOR UMBWE ROUTE 6 DAYS CLIMB:
The Umbwe Route is the most difficult to trek. The route is very steep and only recommended for well trained climbers with high altitude climbing experience. The trek involves a very fast and strenuous ascent that results in extreme lack of acclimatization.
This route starts from Umbwe gate 1641 mts – Umbwe Cave camp 2800 mts – Barranco 3900 mts – Karanga 3950 mts – Barafu 4600 mts – Stella Point 5739 mts – Uhuru Peak 5986 mts – Barafu 4600 mts – Mweka camp 3090 mts – Mweka gate 1641 mts.
Accommodation: 4 Season Mountaineering Tents.
Ascent: UMBWE ROUTE.
Descent: MWEKA ROUTE.
Duration: 6 or 7 days. (Longer days allow for better acclimatization and increase the chances to summit).
Success Rate: 50% (novice) 90 – 95%+ (experienced).
